My first published translation from Spanish to English for Grace Lilly’s ‘This Song Changed My Life’ series. I enjoyed translating Jose Luis Ruiz’s recounting of a childhood crush into English. Jose Luis’s mastery of the Spanish language was particularly interesting to work with and I tried my best to translate in the spirit of his diction and memory.
